Details Vimala Suites

Vimala Suites is named in honour of Her Highness Princess Vimalachatra, King Rama 5’s granddaughter, who is the mother of M.R. ChalermchatraVudhijaya [Khunchai Nui] and M.R. PhromchatraSvasti [Khunying Noi-Noy].
After the end of World War 2, about 80 years ago, Khunchai Nui’s father His Serene Highness Prince Udaya C. Vudhijaya decided to move his family from The Vudhijaya Mansion in LarnLuang Road to the present compound in SoiAree [Sukhumvit 26].
Back then, Sukhumvit was known as Bangkapi. The area was surrounded by rice paddy fields and local fruit plantations. Land was cheap and the atmosphere was quiet and cosy. So, many members of the royal families moved out into the area especially Sukhumvit 26, making it today’s one of the most expensive residential spot and quiet and cosy place to live in. This is how we got started.

Originally it got started with a romantic concept of building an idyllic place for young newly weds with limited resources. The architect who made this concept into reality was Cambridge educated, His Serene Highness Prince PrasomsavastiSukhasvasti. Today, this small villa is still standing and still has not lost its charm.
Then in 1989, Khunchai Nui and his lovely wife, Khun Aim-OrnVudhijaya [Eady] decided to build a 4-storey apartment building, comprising 24 individual suites. The building was conceptualized after the little villa where the royal couple had resided. In a humble fashion, each of the suites consists of a small living room, a small kitchen/ pantry, a master bedroom, a bathroom and a balcony, with lots of storage space. Vimala Suites was designed by KhunPanit Nil-ubol, construction plan and drawings were co-signed by Dr. SumetJumsai, a well-known architect who was the first Thai to have received the world’s most prestigious “Good Design Award”.
The family’s mission now is to revive the old spirits of Vimala Suites as well as to share, a quiet and cosy experience that is so sought after but rarely found in Bangkok, the City of Angels.

Vimala Suites' Lobby Lounge was "face-lifted" by an anonymously well-known interior designer, who chose to preserve the old glimpse and charm of the old atmosphere and its architecture. Together with owner, they decided to bring the original white rattan furnitures back to life.
The Lobby is divided into 3 main sections ; 2 of which lead to the entrance to both left and right wings of the building, leaving the centre section for "all purpose" common use, provided with semi outdoor area that connects the 2 wings together.
Right towards the end of the Lobby, a home kitchen has been installed so that guests can enjoy having a bit of fun making their own food and drinks if they want to. The area is also where the breakfast if served.

All suites are identical ! They have been refurbished based on the original concept which is normal, but uncommon, minimal, quiet and cosy, with provision of spacious living spaces, huge storage and a private balcony. They are simply aesthetic, modern and NO FRILLS ! Our rooms are suitable for short and long term stay, designed especially for couples.
